Lord Edward’s Own is one of Ireland’s leading multi-period historical re‑enactment groups, dedicated to bringing the past to life through authentic and engaging living history displays. Based in Monasterevin, Co. Kildare, the group has built a strong reputation for its detailed portrayals of key moments in Irish and European history.

Formed in the early 2000s, the group first appeared at Charles Fort in Kinsale and has since expanded its range to encompass a wide variety of periods, from the 1798 Rebellion and Napoleonic Wars through to the Irish War of Independence and beyond. Our members portray soldiers, civilians, and historical figures from all sides of these conflicts, offering audiences a balanced and immersive interpretation of the past.

Through participation in commemorations, heritage events, festivals, and educational programmes, Lord Edward’s Own plays an active role in preserving and sharing Ireland’s history. Our displays combine period uniforms, weapons, drill, and equipment, helping to recreate the realities of life in earlier centuries with a strong emphasis on accuracy and authenticity.

Whether performing on the streets of historic towns such as Athy, Enniscorthy or Kinsale, contributing to major centenary events, or appearing on television and film productions, the group is committed to making history accessible, engaging, and memorable for all audiences.

At the heart of Lord Edward’s Own is a passion for research, storytelling, and public engagement—ensuring that the people, events, and experiences of the past continue to be remembered and understood by future generations.
